The trainers develop a specific exercise program based on the class focus and participant needs and abilities. The Small Group Training program offers structured group programs. The service is designed to pair clients one-on-one with a trained Rec Sports staff member. The Personal Training program is available to all UL Lafayette students, faculty/staff, and current Rec Sports Spouse Pass holders. Family Hours will be held this 2023 season as the Leisure Pool will be open. The Leisure Pool and Spa will open in mid-April. Teams supply gloves & bats.The Department of Rec Sports - Student Aquatic Center Lap Pool will open on February 27th, 2023 Teams will play one game each week, on the same night each week - you just have to pick the night you want to play. Teams can have a maximum of 5 of each gender in the field if fielding a full lineup of 10 players. The Thunderchicken Slo-pitch (UBC Fields) is a long standing league with Urban Rec, it is a co-ed league that plays all of its games at UBC. This league plays at softball diamonds throughout the City of Vancouver (with fields all over the city). Teams must provide their own bases with the home team setting them up each game. The mid-week league teams will play once a week on either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. The Sunday League teams will play on the same day each week, but the fields that they play on will vary from week to week. The MaxFun league is a coed league with 10 players in the field requiring a minimum of 4 of each gender to a maximum of 6 of either gender if fielding a full lineup in the field. Urban Rec offers two different types of softball throughout the city of Vancouver. The first night of play each season is a seeding night to help determine which pool a team will be initially placed in, although additional re-seeding is done during the season as warranted by Urban Rec. Seasons are 7-10 weeks in length (depending on location and night of play) including playoffs. Urban Rec operates outdoor volleyball starting in mid-April and finishing up in early September. With existing locations at Jericho Beach, Empire Field, and UBC Wesbrook Village- and future locations in Railtown and Marpole planned- we offer over 25 courts of beach volleyball action each night for your playing pleasure. ![]() Urban Rec is Vancouver's premier provider of coed beach volleyball 4's & 6's. As beach volleyball is an outdoor sport and it has been known to rain occasionally in Vancouver, we have to let you know that ALL OF OUR BEACH LEAGUES WILL RUN RAIN OR SHINE - Only in EXCEPTIONAL weather circumstances will leagues be cancelled.
